Discussing end of life issues can be difficult. Elder Options can assist individuals and their families have this discussion but these discussions are so vital to foster dignity and peace that should accompany us all at the end of our lives.
Individuals diagnosed with a life-threatening illness often confront complex care decisions, difficult psychosocial issues, and some form of spiritual crisis. They frequently feel overwhelmed and unprepared. Who can they turn to in this uncertain time and territory?
As advocate we can assist clients in determining how to best use services, support, and relationships to meet their individual wishes near the end of life. We can accompany, counsel, and explore the transformational process of dying.
Elder Options respects choice, honor personal integrity, and assisting our clients in reclaiming the spiritual dimensions of dying. We all want a quick painless death but reality is that most of us have a slow decline. It's important to ask the questions:
- Where do I want to die, at home, in the hospital or hospice facility?
- Who will take care of me?
- What sort of medical treatment and pain management do I want?
- Where do I want to be buried?
- What do I need to do to make sure my wishes are carried out?
We will make sure all the legal documents such as a living will and health care powers of attorney are in place and navigate individuals and their families through the process.
